Pret-A-Cover Buyer’s Lane is a six-day style and design event organised by the Islamic Fashion Design Council (IFDC), and will make its debut at City Walk 2 between March 28 and April 2.
More than 30 regional and international designers, brands and artists will congregate at the fountains piazza over the week to showcase their Muslim-friendly designs, which have become more in demand in recent years.
With hijab lines created by luxury brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and Islam-appropriate catwalk shows in cities such as London, Dubai and Paris, modest fashion is bigger than ever.
Currently, Muslim customers spend an estimated US$272 billion on clothing, with the industry predicted to grow to US$322 billion this year.
Pret-A-Cover Buyer’s Lane aims to put those helping to grow the industry front and centre at the Dubai event, bringing together everything from haute couture and pret-a-porter to street-wise labels, accessories and beauty.
The festival, which is supported by Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, is open to people from the industry as well as the general public, with pop-ups, shopping sessions, meet-and-greets, and huge projections of catwalk shows.
From the UK, there’s athleisure-influenced UNDER-RÂPT and womenswear labels Nasrin Ijaz and Fringadine, while the USA is represented by halal beauty brand NARI Skincare and streetwear labels Dosougi Designs and Blue meets Blue.
Italian accessories brand LAURAFED, South African womenswear labels Phi Casa and The Room, Latvian jeweller Anita Sondore, Australian fashion brand Minnow Zola and Russian designer Dilyara Sadrieva are among those scheduled to showcase their collections.
Labels from Sweden, France, Malaysia, Indonesia and India are also bringing their stylish wares to the city, while UAE-based luxury e-commerce site The Modist will have a presence at the event too.
